10. How do the XMON monitor and the Tasking XVW monitor/debugger differ?

  • XMON only supports assembly language debugging with a simple "debug" style user interface. The XMON monitor itself resides in about 32KB of space on the XA device and requires only a simple serial interface to a PC for communications. XMON is included "for free" with every XTEND-G3 or XTEND-S3 kit purchased.

The Tasking XVW monitor/debugger is a more powerful tool that runs as part of the Tasking EDE for the XA. It supports assembly language, C or mixed code debug with full symbolic support for all C variables. A demo version of the Tasking XVW is included with every XTEND-G3 or XTEND-S3 kit purchased but the full production version must be purchased directly from Tasking (for around $1500.00).
