This design utilizes the ET2008 8 port Gigabit Ethernet Switch IC and the VoIP1000 VoIP Controller, both from Agere Systems, to provide an ultra-reliable complete SOHO solution that includes routing, DHCP, and VoIP. To accommodate the tight 8 week production schedule FDI produced customized mechanical modifications, custom front and rear panel, graphics and pad printing for sleek off-the-shelf housings. This provided an attractive packaging option with a low initial NRE/tooling cost and FDI even designed a custom EMI shield to allow the unit to pass FCC certification in a standard plastic housing.
