This design utilizes the ET2008 8 port Gigabit Ethernet Switch IC from Agere Systems to provide a single-chip 8 port switch implementation. The layout was optimized for a 2-layer PCB for ultra-low cost and the unit supports either managed or un-managed operation via simple load options. The devices ARM7 core supports full JTAG development and includes a serial port for optional communications alternatives.
