Huntsville, AL (August 5, 2025) – Future Designs, Inc. (FDI), a full service engineering design and production company, announced today the availability of μEZ® Version 2.15.001. μEZ is FDI’s open source rapid development platform based around the popular FreeRTOS™ Operating System. The latest version of μEZ provides new and existing customers with additional security features, networking features, CLANG compiler support, platform file improvements, and project enhancements. Make sure to read the complete μEZ Change History Summary document that ships with every version of μEZ.
μEZ v2.15 Release Highlights:
- Compatible with uEZ+ Bootloader v1.07: This release brings Rowley Crossworks IDE project support for all bootloader projects for all supported uEZGUIs, and is backwards compatible with the previous IAR base bootloader in-use in the field.
- MbedTLS updated to v3.6.2 and TLS 1.3 is now supported in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) MQTT demo
- Full FTP server added to allow remote access over Ethernet to both an SD card and USB Flash drive that are connected to the uEZGUI, speeding up software development.
- Rowley Crossworks v5.1.0: Projects updated to support Crossworks 5 that comes with several new features and enhancements.
- IAR EWARM v9.60.3: Projects updated to support the newer version of IAR that comes with an improved installer to enhance compatibility, and new C feature support.
- FreeRTOS updated to v11.0.1 with more trace macros integrated, improved heap algorithms, new optional heap and task features
- Automatic Heap Setup: Projects now have the heap moved to the end of SDRAM with an FDI-customized RTOS callback to the hardware/application specific platform file. This allows the full remaining external RAM to be used without the developer needing to manually change a define then rebuild the μEZ library project.
- When used with Heap 4, this allows for correct calculation of free bytes remaining and usage of overflow checks, even with different μEZGUIs using the same library build.
- Improved SD card support on LPC4357 with specific brands/models of SD cards
