The Future Designs, Inc. ΣyG Family provides a complete and qualified platform for the rapid release of Renesas Synergy-based embedded touchscreen display products. The core of ΣyG (pronounced, “Sig”) is Renesas Synergy – a comprehensive and integrated software-based microcontroller platform.
ΣyG products are carefully designed by the same team of engineers who earned FDI’s recognition as a Renesas Independent Design House, Alliance Partner, and Certified Training Center. This, in combination with our expertise in GUI and HMI hardware, touchscreen systems and cost effective, volume production, results in FDI’s ability to offer a high-quality family of Renesas Synergy-based products. Additionally, our products utilize a compact, integrated, interoperable, secure and easy-to-use embedded wireless stack shortening our customers time-to-market for applications implementing low-cost and low-power wireless connectivity. 1. What is ΣyGTM?
ΣyG is FDI’s family of Renesas Synergy-based GUI products. ΣyG products provide a complete hardware and software solution for developing embedded display projects. ΣyG products feature the Renesas Synergy software and microcontrollers for a complete and qualified development platform.
FDI released its ΣyG product family in October 2015 in conjunction with the biannual Renesas Devcon event as the first partner to have S7G2-based GUI products in distribution stock. FDI is uniquely qualified to provide Renesas Synergy GUI products as a Reneas Gold Alliance Partner, Renesas Independent Design House and Certified Training Center.

3. What’s the difference between ΣyG and μEZ® GUI?
ΣyG features Renesas Electronics’ proprietary hardware and software, Renesas SynergyTM. Synergy is a comprehensive, integrated platform designed to bring complex system designs to market fast.
Like μEZ GUI, ΣyG products include all the hardware, software and technical resources needed to develop high-value embedded designs with quick time-to-market. Unlike μEZ GUI, ΣyG products are optimized for customers who have a preference for developing with Renesas Synergy versus our FreeRTOS-based μEZ® software.

5. When will off-the-shelf ΣyG GUI products become available?
The priority and release schedules for FDI’s ΣyG GUI products is still being defined. FDI is working with a number of key customers to drive this effort. Preference will be considered for customers interested in providing direct influence to the feature set and details and will benefit by receiving end products that are optimized for their application.

6. I need help deciding which product family is best for my design. How do I decide?
FDI offers 3 embedded display product families: μEZ GUI, ΣyG and ELI. These product families are most easily differentiated through a software decision path.
