High-Quality Graphics for High-Quality Applications

Future Designs, Inc. has utilized LVGL as the graphics library of choice for the SuRG product line, b. and FDI will release LVGL demonstration code for its uEZGUI product family in August of 2026. True to its name, the versatility of LVGL means that it can run on any of FDI’s standard embedded GUIs.

With LVGL, FDI has developed quick, professional-grade GUI solutions for displays that had strict color-limits where no other graphics library could have sufficed.

FDI Prevented Supply Chain Issues when Customer’s Display Ceased Production

One of FDI’s longtime customers used an ultra-low-power LCD in their product that, while unbeknownst to them, was slated to go EOL within a couple years. FDI immediately began working on a solution, and after many months of research, testing, and validation, a new LCD, consuming even less power, was selected.

Despite the 3-color limit of the new LCD, FDI selected LVGL as the new graphics library, a choice that not only worked well, but also decreased the customer’s application size and still works satisfactorily for them to this day.

μEZ GUI — Standalone Touchscreen GUI/HMI Modules

FDI’s μEZ GUI product family is a line of off-the-shelf, standalone touchscreen GUI and HMI production modules built on NXP microcontrollers, including the LPC1788, LPC4088, and LPC4357. Each module runs the proven μEZ® / FreeRTOS software platform and is available as both development-kit (with JTAG debugger, power supply, and full documentation) and production-modules for volume deployment. A μEZ GUI can serve as the main controller in an application or as a slave GUI to add a display to an existing NXP-based design. Display sizes range from 3.5″ to 7.0″, in resistive and capacitive touch options, with a minimum 10-year production guarantee.

SuRG — Low-Power, Sunlight-Readable GUI

SuRG is FDI’s family of sunlight-readable embedded LCDs, built on the STMU585 microcontroller. SuRG is designed to consume minimal power and bring your LVGL-powered GUI to life with a crystal-clear LCD that becomes higher quality in areas of high ambient light. SuRG runs on the FreeRTOS platform, and comes in both standalone Production Modules for volume production and Development Kits (with JTAG debugger, power supply, and full documentation).
