FDI provides a comprehensive set of tools of resources for developing a GUI with our uEZ GUI product family.
About μEZ
μEZ® (pronounced muse) is an open-source rapid development platform, developed by FDI. By providing RTOS and processor abstraction, μEZ® frees companies to focus on innovation and their value-added applications while minimizing development time. It enhances portability of application code to multiple platforms and has high reusability, saving even more time and cost.
FDI’s μEZ software accompanies the μEZ GUI family of products. μEZ GUI devices are the standalone microcontroller-based Touchscreen GUI / HMI solution that provides an off-the-shelf options for developing new or upgraded embedded touchscreen designs.
Getting Started with μEZ®
FDI designed our uEZ GUI product family to provide an off the shelf , do-it-yourself solution for developing embedded touchscreen GUI displays for a variety of end user applications. After selecting the device best suited for your project from our μEZ GUI catalog, follow these steps to get started on designing your GUI:
1. Choose FDI Software Real Time Operating System (RTOS):
- µEZ + FreeRTOS – basic RTOS suitable for most embedded applications. Free and easy to use.
- µEZ + SAFERTOS – ideal for applications that require a secure connection for sensitive information. Easy to use like FreeRTOS but requires a paid license.
2. Choose GUI Development Software: Libraries that provide graphics and functionality to design the look and feel of the GUI
- emWin – standard library for uEZ GUI development projects. Free with any NXP microcontroller-based uEZ GUI device
3. Choose a compiler: All uEZ RTOS options are compatible with the follow list of compilers. You may choose whatever compiler you prefer.
4. Add µEZ+ Bootloader: A proven solution for upgrading your firmware in the field via SD Card, USB Flash Drive or interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-232 or Wi-Fi. The uEZ+ Bootloader is recommended for most applications and is part of μEZ+ as a licensed component that must be purchased from FDI and registered before use. Learn more about μEZ+ Bootloader.
5. Begin your µEZ Development project. Download the µEZ GUI Start Here Guide supporting the kit you’ve purchased. This document will provides an in-depth getting started tutorial to help familiarize you with the features and capabilities of your µEZ GUI.
